Terms and Conditions
At Folklaura Ceramics, every piece is individually handcrafted with care, patience and attention to detail. By placing an order, you agree to the following Terms & Conditions.
⸻ Booking Your Commission A non-refundable booking deposit of £30 is required to secure a place on my commission waiting list for commissioned sculptures valued up to £150. For commissions exceeding £150, the booking deposit will be discussed and agreed at the time of ordering. The booking deposit covers time spent planning your commission, scheduling your place in my order book and preparing for your sculpture. It is therefore non-refundable should you decide to cancel your commission. The remaining balance must be paid in full before work begins.
⸻ Payment All commissioned work must be paid for in full before sculpting begins. No sculpture will be started until the outstanding balance has been received.
⸻ Commission Sculptures Every commission is individually handmade from photographs supplied by the customer and is created specifically for that customer. As such, commissioned pieces are exempt from the standard 14-day cancellation period under the Consumer Contracts Regulations. Once sculpting has begun, the order cannot be cancelled and no refund will be given. Before your sculpture is bisque fired, I will send photographs for your approval. This is your opportunity to request any minor adjustments before the clay becomes permanent. Please examine these photographs carefully. If I do not receive a response within 5 days, I will assume you are happy with the sculpture and it will automatically proceed to bisque firing. Once a sculpture has been bisque fired, no alterations can be made.
⸻ Reference Photographs The likeness of your sculpture depends entirely on the quality and variety of the reference photographs provided. Please supply clear, high-quality images from multiple angles wherever possible. Folklaura Ceramics cannot accept responsibility for inaccuracies resulting from poor-quality, limited or incomplete reference photographs.
⸻ Handmade Nature of My Work Every sculpture is individually handmade and hand-finished. Small variations in shape, texture, colour and glaze are a natural part of handmade ceramics and make every piece unique. These are not faults or defects.
⸻ Shipping & Delivery Every order is packaged with the utmost care using protective materials to minimise the risk of damage during transit. Although every effort is made to ensure your sculpture arrives safely, ceramics are inherently fragile and damage can occasionally occur whilst in the hands of postal or courier services. If your order arrives damaged, you must notify Folklaura Ceramics within 48 hours of delivery and provide: * Photographs of the damaged item. * Photographs of the internal packaging. * Photographs of the external packaging, including any visible damage. These images are required for any courier claim and may also be requested by Folklaura Ceramics. Where damage is confirmed, an appropriate resolution will be offered, which may include repair, replacement or, where appropriate, a refund. Delivery dates are estimates only and cannot be guaranteed.
⸻ International Orders & Customs Customers outside the United Kingdom are responsible for any customs duties, import taxes or additional charges applied by their country. These charges are not included in your order total and must be paid by the buyer. Folklaura Ceramics cannot accept responsibility for delays caused by customs or international postal services.
⸻ Caring for Your Sculpture Unglazed Sculptures Unglazed sculptures, including dog sculptures, should only ever be cleaned using a soft, dry brush or duster. Never use water, cleaning products or sprays, as these will permanently damage the finish. Glazed Pieces Glazed ceramics are suitable for displaying outdoors but are not weatherproof. Please do not leave pieces outside in prolonged rain, standing water, frost or snow, as this may damage both the glaze and the ceramic body over time.
⸻ Liability Once your order has been delivered, Folklaura Ceramics cannot accept responsibility for damage resulting from accidental knocks, drops, improper handling, incorrect storage or failure to follow the recommended care instructions.
⸻ Intellectual Property All sculptures, designs, photographs and artwork remain the intellectual property of Folklaura Ceramics. They may not be copied, reproduced, moulded, cast, scanned or commercially replicated without prior written permission.
⸻ Photography I reserve the right to photograph commissioned pieces for use on my website, portfolio and social media. If your commission is intended as a surprise gift and you would prefer it not to be shared until a particular date, please let me know when placing your order and I’ll happily keep it under wraps until then.
⸻ Questions If you have any questions about the commission process or these Terms & Conditions, please get in touch before placing your order. I’m always happy to help and want your experience with Folklaura Ceramics to be as enjoyable as the finished piece itself
